Our beautiful property was created to provide senior citizens with low cost, affordable housing. All applications are reviewed prior to admission to the community based upon the requirements of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. The Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Program was created by Congress as part of the Tax and Reform Act of 1986, and is often referred to as Section 42 housing.

We have established income limits (highest) and minimums (lowest) that guide the financial requirements for eligibility into the community. Independence Gardens is not subsidized housing, and the rents are not subject to change based on income. Independence Gardens does accept the payments of rent from guarantors, as well as Section 8 assistance.
